DIY: How to Remove a Volvo Radio

Tools/Supplies Needed:

• none

Procedure:

• before removing the factory until, ensure that you have the security code if you are planning on using the radio in the future
• disconnect your vehicle's battery
• push the two tangs into the radio face either with your finger or the assistance if your vehicle's key
• the tangs will spring outwards
• use both your hands to carefully pull the stereo out from the dashboard
• once it's far enough out, grab onto the outside and assist the stereo out further
• disconnect the antenna wire which simply pulls straight out
• remove the round electrical connector by pulling straight out
• then disconnect the two electrical connectors by depressing the tangs and pulling straight out
• reinstallation in reverse of removal

Be sure that you do have a code for the stereo before removing it or discounting the battery, otherwise you will not be able to operate the stereo. This method also applies to other models such as the C70, V70, S70, and S40. This particular tutorial was done on a 1996 Volvo 850 T5.
