Difficulty Level
Tools/Supplies Needed:
• phillips screwdriver
Procedure:
• first you will need to remove the door panel
• make sure the window is in the down position so you are able to access the mounting screws
• first start by unclipping the wiring harness for the power mirror motor and the heated mirror element
• remove the three phillips screws on the top of the door frame located at the backside of the mirror assembly
• carefully remove the screws as they can seize up over time
• once the screws have been removed, sometimes the mirror can stick on the door so it may take a little force to pop it loose
• pull the mirror assembly away from the door and feed the wiring harness through the hole
• to remove the mirror glass, face the mirror in the up position so you are able to insert your fingers from the bottom
• insert your fingers firmly in behind the bottom side of the mirror and pull outward
• once the bottom side is unclipped, pull downward to disconnect the upper clips
• remove the heated wire electrical connector by depressing the tang and pulling straight out
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
The three bolts are extremely tight, how can I remove them without damaging the bolts?
They do seize over time from sitting. I would recommend using a hand impact driver as this will prevent the head from stripping while also providing some shock to the bolt to help it break loose. Worst case scenario you will need to drill the bolts and install new bolts.
