Difficulty Level

Tools/Supplies Needed:

• Adobe Photoshop
• computer
• image

Procedure:

• open the selected photo in Adobe Photoshop
• use the polygonal lasso tool to cut a rough outline of the glass you are wanting to remove the tint from
• copy and paste the selection
• ensure that the newly pasted copy is in the correct location
• turn off the base layer, this will make removing the unwanted areas easier
• delete the unwanted areas, while leaving the glass only remaining
• depending on the darkness of tint on each window, some might need to be put into another layer so you can control each individually
• in order to transfer a section of glass into a new layer, use the polygonal lasso tool to select the rough outline of the area, then cut and paste
• the newly pasted selection may need to be moved into the correct location
• now double click on the layer or right click and go into blending options
• check the box for color overlay and go into that property's options
• click on the color and select white and click ok
• now click the blending mode drop down menu, scroll down and select hard mix
• go to opacity and make an adjustment to under 50%
• anywhere from 20% to 35% is usually the best selection, depending on the darkness of tint
• click ok and that will close the layer style window
• do this for the other window layer if needed and adjust accordingly
• for an extra step you can also adjust the brightness/contrast, as well as vibrance/saturation if desired
• go to image - adjustments - brightness/contrast
• drag each of the tabs until you are satisfied with the outcome
• click ok
• go to image - adjustments - vibrance
• drag each of the tabs until you are satisfied with the outcome
• click ok
• once you are satisfied with the final outcome, save the image

Video tutorial on how to remove window tint on a vehicle in Adobe Photoshop. Ensure that the vehicle you are working with has minimal glare on the glass, isn't too dark where it hides the objects behind the glass, and is a workable angle. This was done on Adobe Photoshop version CS5 on a Mac, but this also works on previous versions of Adobe Photoshop and on a Windows version too.
